After the great event in Decathlon Maratxi we were up for a challenge, making more than the double of discover dives over a whole day with the team of the Decathlon of Son Moix.. did we succeed is the big question ?
In june 2007, decathlon approched hippocampes divers to become a yearly partner in organizing the DSD Day (hippocampes Divers trademark). Therefore this year was our second edition, and we were prepared for it as you'll see throughout the shots coming along.
Organisation : - 10 tanks - 6 complete kits - masks and defog spray to last the day - Pamphlets, diplomas, tables, boards, banners, music and everything we might need to make the day "Rock & Roll"
After the preparation in the center, the transport of all the equipment across the beach, driving to decathlon the night before, we were finally ready to kick-off at 9:00 am on saturday 19th of july 2008 for our second session, but this time in another location, the other decathlon shop in palma.
Throughout the whole day we did some amazing discover scuba diving sessions and snorkelling sessions. A few Bubblemaker experiences for the young 8-9 year old. The team was amazing, from the morning at 8:30 am until 22:00 at night we didn't stop, going around cars to ask if they wanted to try diving, getting some people in the water just after their shopping in the supermarket... we didn't stop all day, it was a real challenge and i think we clearly succeeded in our quest... the figures speak for themselves
At the end of the event we had successfully made a count of : - 45 DSD's - 15 Bubblemaker - 20 snorkellers discovering the joys of floating along with us in a pool
The day was full on heatwave, 40° once again, no shelter but hey... can't complain about a great day such as this one. That's what diving is all about in our job, sharing those moments, not always for money... but just for the sake of taking part... sharing the passion, lighting the flame in peole.
Thanks to all the Decathlon team for their work and here goes for the photos of the DSD's... guess they speak for themselves :)
